Job duties of a Sheet Metal Worker include:
- Review engineering and architectural drawings, sketches, and work specifications to determine the required work, and measure, lay out, and mark sheet metal in accordance with drawings or templates.
- Create sheet metal patterns using computer-aided design and drafting (CAD) software.
- Operate various light metalworking equipment, including shears, brakes, punches, drill presses, and computer numerical control (CNC) machinery, to cut, bend, punch, drill, shape, and straighten sheet metal.
- Use computerized laser and plasma cutting machinery to accurately cut sheet metal according to project requirements.
- Set up, operate, and utilize rigging and hoisting equipment for the handling and positioning of materials.
- Assemble and join sheet metal components using riveting, welding, soldering, and related tools and equipment to manufacture products such as ventilation shafts, exhaust hoods, eavestroughs, partition frames, air and heating ducts, material handling systems, roof decking, and sheet metal structures.
- Install fabricated sheet metal products in accordance with project specifications, applicable building codes, and installation requirements.
- Grind, polish, and smooth seams, joints, and other rough or uneven surfaces to achieve the required finish.
- Examine completed products and installations to verify quality and ensure compliance with established specifications and requirements.

Required work experience: Proof of at least 2 years of experience in the occupation
